by Ayden Kowalski
And now the scenes are pieces, littered across the shoreline
As the ocean ruminates and grinds them down to dust
I put on dramas in my dreamscape here, our unlived story
The fantasies of a boy enamored with a storm
Because it all brought him down to humanity
And I’ll find somewhere else to swim, love,
Another glitter-banded gauntlet with the roiling waves I crave
Or I’ll finally listen to the cooler heads and settle on stale and sunny shores
But every once in a while I’ll look out at the moonlit sea and cry,
Because even though I’m nothing to you I am always yours
